The Department of Interior Architecture educates students to design interior spaces that identify spatial requirements through environmental and user-oriented analyses—spaces that are functional, comfortable, healthy, appealing to all senses, and respectful of universal design principles. The program aims to train interior architects who possess strong knowledge of materials, construction, and technical systems; who have advanced two- and three-dimensional presentation and communication skills; who follow and apply contemporary design approaches; who are inquisitive, embrace interdisciplinary teamwork, act with professional ethics, and have a strong sense of aesthetics, originality, integrity, and responsibility.
The department’s curriculum equips students with the ability to generate creative and original ideas, to approach design critically, and to use presentation and communication techniques effectively. By integrating structural and technical knowledge, students develop the capability to produce accurate and sound detail solutions. They also gain the ability to understand and interpret history, art, and the evolving concept of space from past to present, and to develop original, economical, user- and environment-conscious design solutions for problems at various scales.
