Profile of the Programme

As Turkey’s first foundation university, Yeditepe University’s Faculty of Dentistry is a pioneering educational institution that aims to train contemporary, research-oriented dentists who uphold ethical values. The language of instruction at the faculty is English, and students benefit from state-of-the-art clinical and laboratory infrastructure equipped with the latest technology required by modern medicine and dentistry.

The program offers comprehensive education in both basic medical sciences and clinical sciences, encompassing the diagnosis and treatment of diseases associated with the oral cavity, teeth, and adjacent tissues. Students are trained to become professionals with a strong sense of responsibility who stay abreast of scientific advancements and uphold ethical standards. Most courses are organized on an annual basis, while some are offered on a semester basis; therefore, the curriculum is structured annually. The duration of the program is five years.

In addition to undergraduate education, the Faculty also offers postgraduate and doctoral programs within the Institute of Health Sciences. The Faculty hosts multidisciplinary scientific research and supports the academic development of its students.

Yeditepe University Faculty of Dentistry is dedicated to the ongoing enhancement of its educational quality and service standards. Consequently, it has achieved multiple esteemed national and international accreditations.

Yeditepe University Dental Hospital, accredited five times by the Joint Commission International (JCI) since 2009, is the first and only dental hospital in the world to receive this accreditation, meeting international quality standards in patient care services.

The Postgraduate Periodontology Program, accredited by the European Federation of Periodontology (EFP) in 2005, is the first and only program in Turkey to hold EFP accreditation.

As of February 1, 2024, the Faculty became the first dental school in Europe and the second in the world to be accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA) of the United States. With this accreditation, graduates of the Faculty are granted rights and privileges equivalent to those of dental school graduates in the USA.

The academic staff comprises a total of 131 educators, clinicians, and researchers — 90 from clinical sciences and 41 from basic sciences — in addition to more than 100 administrative personnel. Currently, approximately 462 students are enrolled in the Faculty.

Yeditepe University Faculty of Dentistry strives to ensure that its graduates achieve success as dentists and scientists on both national and international stages. The Faculty maintains a commitment to quality, ethical standards, and ongoing improvement as its core principles.
