Biomedical engineering is an interdisciplinary engineering field that adapts fundamental engineering principles to solve problems in the healthcare sector using advanced quantitative and analytical methods. The main goal of the field is to develop new technologies that support human health in diagnosis, treatment, monitoring, and rehabilitation processes, to improve existing methods, and to enhance quality of life.
The Yeditepe University Biomedical Engineering Master's Program with Thesis offers graduates from biomedical engineering and related engineering and basic science fields the opportunity to specialize in a specific subfield of biomedical engineering. The program aims to develop students' skills in defining scientific problems, developing solutions, conducting experimental/computational analysis, and reporting results according to scientific standards by combining advanced theoretical foundations, research methodology, and applied work. Scientific preparatory courses may be applied if deemed necessary, depending on the candidates' undergraduate background.
Within the program, students can conduct research following current approaches in areas such as biomaterials, biomedical devices and instrumentation, sensor and transducer systems, biomedical signal processing, medical imaging, optical techniques, and similar fields. The thesis process allows students to produce original scientific output by working closely with their advisors; The project supports graduates in contributing to conference papers, scientific publications, and, when necessary, patent/product development-focused work.
Graduates acquire the skills to work as qualified specialists in environments such as the health technology and medical device sector, R&D centers, and hospital/university research laboratories; they also gain the research competence to continue academic studies at the doctoral level.
