Foreign Language Education

At Yeditepe University, where English is the medium of instruction, the School of Foreign Languages offers preparatory programs in four languages: English, German, French, and Russian. Students are placed in the preparatory program corresponding to the language of instruction of their department. After reaching the required proficiency level, they may proceed with their faculty courses.

The language courses offered by the School of Foreign Languages are grouped into three main categories:

  • Compulsory Language Courses
  • Elective Language Courses
  • English Speaking Courses

In line with our mission to equip students with strong academic language skills, promote global career opportunities, and emphasize the cultural and professional importance of foreign languages, students are offered the opportunity to learn up to six additional languages beyond the one used in their academic program.

Through elective courses, students may study English, German, French, Spanish, Russian, Chinese, and Korean. Each course consists of three hours per week and carries 5 ECTS credits.

Students who successfully complete at least four levels of any given language course before graduation are awarded a Certificate of Achievement, regardless of whether the courses are credit-bearing or not.
