Profile of the Programme

The English Literature Doctoral Program aims to provide advanced academic training that approaches English literature from contemporary, comparative, and interdisciplinary perspectives, and to cultivate highly qualified academics. The program seeks to train competent researchers and teaching staff who possess well-developed critical thinking skills, can effectively apply theoretical knowledge to literary texts, and are capable of conducting scholarly research at both national and international levels.

In this context, the program aims to enhance students’ abilities to conduct in-depth research, think analytically, interpret, and critically evaluate literary texts, while equipping them with interdisciplinary approaches and a broad range of theoretical frameworks. By fostering an awareness of the academic profession as a lifelong intellectual pursuit, the program adopts the vision of educating creative, principled, collaborative, and ethically committed scholars.

Accordingly, the curriculum encompasses a wide theoretical and historical spectrum, ranging from the major periods of English literature and literary genres to classical criticism and contemporary literary theories.
