Profile of the Programme

Urban Design and Landscape Architecture is a professional field that approaches the natural, built, and cultural environment as an integrated whole, encompassing the processes of design, planning, implementation, and management. The Department was established with the aim of educating urban designers and landscape architects who are capable of developing innovative and sustainable solutions that respond to the ecological, social, and spatial challenges of rapidly transforming cities, while maintaining a sensitive balance between people and the environment.

The curriculum combines design studios, theoretical courses, construction and application techniques, ecological planning, landscape technologies, and cultural heritage conservation, aiming to develop students’ analytical thinking, research, creative problem-solving, and interdisciplinary collaboration skills. Through interaction with related disciplines such as architecture, urban and regional planning, engineering, ecology, and social sciences, students gain the knowledge and competence required to contribute to the shaping of contemporary urban life.

In addition, the department supports students’ professional development through technical excursions, workshops, seminars, and collaborations with public and private sector institutions. These activities provide students with both academic and practical experience, preparing them for professional practice.

The field of Urban Design and Landscape Architecture covers the planning, design, implementation, and management of all private and public open spaces within and outside urban areas. Urban parks, city squares, waterfronts, residential and tourism areas, recreational zones, and natural and cultural conservation sites constitute the primary areas of professional engagement. Our graduates are equipped to work as creative, responsible professionals in public institutions, private sector firms, consultancy offices, and academic environments.
