The Department of Public Administration at Yeditepe University was established in 2004 under the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences and graduated its first cohort in 2009. The department offers a comprehensive four-year undergraduate program focusing on the functioning of public institutions, the dynamics of administrative processes, the formulation of public policies, and the protection of public values.
The primary aim of the department is to equip students not only with theoretical knowledge but also with analytical thinking, interdisciplinary assessment, critical decision-making, ethical responsibility, and communication skills. This approach enables students to become productive, innovative, and solution-oriented individuals in both academic and professional fields.
The program integrates various disciplines such as law, political science, economics, sociology, urbanization, and environmental studies to provide students with a multidimensional understanding of public administration. The medium of instruction is 100% English, allowing students to gain competence at both national and international levels. As a result, graduates acquire the capacity to follow and interpret administrative, policy-making, and public service processes on a global scale.
One of the program’s key objectives is to educate future administrators who are aware of global transformations, have internalized the concept of the public good, and are capable of competing successfully in both public and private sectors — individuals whose outlook is toward the modern world, yet whose hearts remain devoted to their country. In this context, the department seeks to cultivate professionals who are strategic thinkers, ethically grounded, and capable of contributing to the development of effective and equitable governance systems.
In line with Yeditepe University’s institutional vision, the department also aims to educate students who can actively engage in national and international contexts, contribute to the advancement of public administration, possess the knowledge and skills necessary to meet the expectations of the public sector, and uphold universal professional ethics while remaining loyal to Atatürk’s principles and reforms. Accordingly, graduates are trained as professionals who prioritize social benefit, safeguard the public interest, and uphold democratic values in all aspects of governance.
The Public Administration program goes beyond traditional lecture-based instruction, offering an interactive learning environment supported by research, discussion, project development, case analysis, and internship applications. Throughout their studies, students not only acquire knowledge but also develop critical analytical and practical application skills. The program aims to cultivate individuals capable of evaluating global and local administrative dynamics, conducting comparative analyses of public policies, and mastering contemporary principles of good governance.
Students of the department have the opportunity to study abroad through the Erasmus exchange program and may also pursue double major or minor degrees in other disciplines. Thanks to this flexible structure, the Department of Public Administration not only provides a strong academic foundation but also prepares students for a professional vision that is internationally competitive. Graduates are qualified to work as managers, experts, inspectors, or consultants in public institutions, local governments, international organizations, private enterprises, and non-governmental organizations.
