Founded in 1996 by the Istanbul Education and Culture Foundation (İSTEK), Yeditepe University is a pioneering foundation university dedicated to educating future generations under the guiding principles of Atatürk’s reforms. Since its establishment, its mission has been to raise individuals equipped with the knowledge, skills, and competencies demanded by the business world, proficient in technology, familiar with global cultures, capable of critical thinking, and committed to contributing value to society. Academic Structure and Educational Opportunities
Yeditepe University offers one of the broadest academic portfolios in Türkiye, comprising 13 faculties, 1 Vocational School, and 1 School of Foreign Languages, with 70 undergraduate, 4 associate degree, 91 master’s, and 45 doctoral programs. English is the primary language of instruction, with opportunities to learn a second foreign language. A European Credit Transfer System (ECTS)-compliant credit-based curriculum ensures international recognition, academic mobility, and flexibility. Yeditepe University is a national leader in research and innovation. With 14 research centers and more than 500 laboratories, supported by R&D laboratories, the Scientific Research and Project Support Commission, the Project Management Office, and the Technology Transfer Office, the university fosters research development, commercialization of results, and strong collaborations with industry. Campus Life
Situated on the Asian side of Istanbul on the foothills of Kayışdağı, the 26 August Campus covers 125,000 m² of outdoor area and 223,000 m² of indoor facilities, making it one of Türkiye’s largest and most modern university campuses. Inspired by Seljuk architecture, it combines aesthetic design with functionality, featuring modern academic buildings, social spaces, and on-campus housing for nearly 3,700 students, creating a safe, comfortable, and rich living environment. Recognized by the UI GreenMetric World University Rankings, Yeditepe University was named Türkiye’s greenest foundation university in 2017 and 2018, and continues to rank among the country’s top environmentally conscious institutions. Its 1 MW rooftop solar power plant—the largest of its kind in Istanbul—and a wind energy investment in Şile make Yeditepe one of the few universities in Türkiye generating its own renewable energy.
