Educational Aim of the Program

  • The core objective of the program is to raise productive individuals who can evaluate real-life economic events and problems from a broad perspective and contribute to society. Additionally, the program aims to ensure graduates possess foreign language proficiency, the ability to articulate themselves and the requirements of their profession in that language, the provision of academic and practical equipment necessary for a career in the public and private sectors, and the necessary understanding to interpret and analyze current national and international economic issues and developments.
  • One of the fundamental goals of economics education is to equip students with the ability to question not just "what happened," but "why it happened" and "how it could be better." This necessitates that students evaluate events using scientific tools such as economic models and data analysis, free from personal or political biases. Graduates are expected to be able to define the problems they face (such as inflation, unemployment, or growth slowdown), diagnose the potential causes, and offer solution proposals.
  • Today’s economies have an interconnected global structure. Therefore, economics departments aim for students to acquire knowledge not only on local issues but also on subjects such as international trade, financial markets, and global economic development. Furthermore, an important mission is to cultivate socially responsible individuals who consider the societal dimensions of economic decisions, such as justice, sustainability, and ethics.
  • Given the wide range of career fields for economics graduates, programs aim to equip students with the data literacy and problem-solving skills needed by sectors such as banking, finance, consulting, public administration, and technology. A critical function of the department is ensuring that graduates are ready for professional life by integrating theoretical knowledge with practical applications.
