Transfer Students from Other Universities
Prior education of students who are admitted to undergraduate, graduate, or doctoral programs at YTU is recognized in accordance with the regulations of the Council of Higher Education (YÖK) and under the coordination of the Adjustment (Equivalency) Committee. Courses previously taken at other universities may be recognized and their grades transferred to the student’s transcript if deemed compatible with the program by the Adjustment Committee.
Students admitted through vertical transfer are required to take the English Proficiency Exam first.
Foreign Language Exemption
Students who have received foreign language education—formally, non-formally, or outside of school—prior to enrolling in a YTU undergraduate or graduate program may be exempted from the preparatory program if they pass the foreign language exam administered by the Department of Foreign Languages. Such exemptions are recorded on the students’ transcripts.
Recognition of Non-Formal and Informal Learning
At the beginning of each academic semester, a foreign language exemption exam is held. Students who believe they possess the required language competencies are entitled to take this exam. Those who pass are exempted from the corresponding courses in the curriculum.
