Practical Information for International Students

1- Residence Procedures (Visa & Residence Permit)

Residence Permit: After entering Türkiye, an application for a residence permit must be submitted within 1 month at the latest.

Required documents

• After receiving their residence cards, students must go to the Social Security Institution (SGK) with their student certificates and obtain insurance within at least 3 months.
• International students should receive support regarding the required documents and guidance from the University’s International Prospective Student Office, and Erasmus and Exchange students should receive support from the Erasmus Office.

2- e-Government Procedures

After obtaining the residence card, students must visit a central PTT branch to obtain an e-Government password.

3- Transportation and Istanbul Card (Transportation & Istanbul Card)

Public transportation vehicles in Istanbul: Metro, metrobus, bus, ferry, tram.
It is necessary to obtain an Istanbulkart.
Required documents for a student discount card: Passport, student certificate, and biometric photograph.

4- Opening a Bank Account (Opening a Bank Account)

Required documents for opening a bank account in Türkiye:
Passport
Residence permit card
Student certificate
Address document (certificate of residence from the e-Government website)
