The main aim of the program is to train Doctors of Pharmacognosy who are knowledgeable, enlightened, competent, and skilled at national and international levels; who can apply the most modern research methods in Pharmacognosy and biological sciences with integrated, broad-based applications across various disciplines; who possess the qualities of a global scientist; who can plan and conduct pharmacognosy research; and who can present the data obtained for the benefit of science and humanity.
The primary goal of this program is to learn methods for developing and discovering new potential drug candidates for the purpose of protecting health and treating diseases by utilizing the rich chemical diversity of nature. In this context, the program aims to train researchers by providing fundamental scientific methods for planning and conducting research, compiling information on the use of natural resources in folk medicine as a source for drug research, isolating active components from natural resources using chemical and biological methods and structural analysis using spectroscopic methods, and applying qualitative and quantitative analysis methods to branch products used in pharmaceuticals.
